Tuscan Landscape - oil

My next painting in the workshop was subject I painted in pastel before. I cropped it differently and changed the scene to my liking. I just love the colors of the late afternoon sun reflecting on the gold fields. This painting just painted itself :)
I wish it was always so easy. The biggest challenge were the shadows. I might repaint it on larger canvas. it would be a good exercise.

Faensa Landscape - oil

It has been some time since my last note. Life gets busy. But now I am excited about my new paintings. I took a workshop Extreme Makeover with Brigitte Curt. I started with an old painting, and after covering it with neutral wash, I started applying paint on light strokes, so I let the background show through the new bright colors. It created quite striking images. The interesting part of the exercise is letting loose and having fun. this is not detailed painting and I really enjoyed that. it was so much fun.

My first painting is painted from a photo Dave took when we traveled in Italy. Thanks for the invitation, Laura, we had a great time. It was one of our best trips! The beautiful countryside with castles is just magical.
